Music Copyist & Music EngraverMusic Preparation Rates and SamplesAbout self publishing your sheet music with ZMX
Music preparation can mean copying or engraving. What is the difference? Music copyists work towards a single event, usually a recording session or performance, and music engravers produce scores for publication. An engraver's work is far more detailed, as they produce the definitive score for a piece of music to strict publisher's standards. For concerts and recording sessions I am an excellent music copyist, and my work has the grace, clarity, and accuracy of professional engraving. I use both Sibelius and Finale for music notation. I am currently the master arranger and head music engraver for print publisher ZMX Music, where I oversee the work of the arrangers and do the final score preparation of all manuscripts produced by ZMX. I prepared music for many other major publishers during my years at the Boston based music engraving company Notecraft. Our customers included publishers such as Hal Leonard, EMI Christian Music Group, Edition Peters, Alfred, and MorningStar. Most of my engravings are distributed globally both in print and online. Some recent clients are film composers Alan Menken, Ruy Folguera, Tyler Bates, and Marc Streitenfeld, contemporary composers Stewart Copeland, Mark Abel, Vivian Fine, Richard Egizi, and Max Schubel, and Japanese pop star Yazawa. My scores and parts have been used by groups such as the Dallas Symphony, the Canberra Pops Orchestra in Australia, the Royal Opera of London, the Cinema Expo convention in Amsterdam, the Polish National Radio Symphony, the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra in the Ukraine, recording orchestras in Prague and Hollywood, and many other recording studio, school, and university ensembles. |
