BugBaby shoot & CRASH!!

I will be the film composer for Rebecca Doppelt’s next film Bugbaby. I was on set today to get a head start by observing her directing, which was fun. I crashed my motorcycle on the way home, which was not. I was hospitalized with a serious concussion and I lost 24 hours of my memory, but I’m okay and the film is going to be great.

Judging for the Vertical Music Awards

Today I had the opportunity to be a judge for the Vertical Music Awards in Bogota, Colombia. I connected with the TV station Vertical Music while on tour in Colombia, and they brought be back for my expertise as a composer and orchestrator. We gave out 20 awards and lots of cash and other prizes. The crowd was crazy, the show was fun, and my buddy Obie Obien and I were among the first people to go down the red carpet for pictures and interviews.

Every Other Week film score finished

Director Genevieve McCarty and I wrapped up the music mixes of the score for her film Every Other Week today. I had the pleasure of composing much of the score with her in the room directing me, something that could easily become a disaster for a composer but worked beautifully with her. It was a truly collaborative effort, and that is the thing I love the most about scoring films.

Penance screening

Director Jake Kennedy had a screening of his horror film Penance today in a theatre at the LA Film School . I composed additional music for a murder and abduction scene. Believe it or not, it was possibly the least horrible scene in the film. Jake doesn’t mess around. The majority of the film score was composed by Ryan Dodson.

Love N’ Dancing now in theaters

Director Robert Iscove’s film Love N’ Dancing, starring the beautiful Amy Smart, is now in theaters. I orchestrated the score for the film for composer David Iscove, and we recorded the music here in Los Angeles. There are some really fantastic dance scenes in this film, and it was really fun to work on.
