I'm back in Los Angeles, and my custom built mic preamps are complete! Last week I had bags full of hundreds, if not thousands, of electronic components and today I have 8 high-end preamps. They're replicas of Neve, API, and Millennia preamps. The DIY kits are by Seventh Circle Audio.

Judging for the Vertical Music AwardsI was a judge for the Vertical Music Awards today in Bogota, Colombia. The crowd was crazy, the show was fun, and I was one of the first down the red carpet for pictures and interviews. Nov 25, 2009 - Cartoon music This week I have been writing theme songs for animated television. Nothing makes a late night recording session more fun than a tongue twister in song! Nov 3, 2009 - Every Other Week screening Genevieve McCarty's film Every Other Week, for which I was the film composer, played today in the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival and was nominated for best short film.

South America tourI toured all month through Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru playing keyboards with Christafari. It was the toughest and most sleep deprived tour yet, but we were in good places with good people. Oct 7, 2009 - Large symphony manuscript finished Today I delivered a large symphonic work to composer Barry Brisk of the Beach Cities Symphony. I was his music engraver, preparing scores and parts for his symphony. The premiere will be Jan 29, 2010. Sept 24, 2009 - 3 year commercial run Today marks the three year anniversary of Blue Shield Of California's use of my music in their television advertising campaigns. My music has been in all of their TV commercials for the last three years. Sept 21, 2009 - Recording In the last week we recorded the core tracks for Austin Bustad's new album here in my studio. It was a pleasure to arrange his songs with and for him. I will also produce and mix the album. Sept 18, 2009 - Every Other Week film score finished Director Genevieve McCarty and I wrapped up the music mixes of the score for her film Every Other Week today. I had the pleasure of creating much of the score with her in the room directing me, something that could easily become a disaster for a composer but worked beautifully with her. Aug 5-25, 2009 - European tour All of August I toured Europe playing keyboards for Christafari in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Portual, and Holland. I saw old friends almost everywhere, which is a real luxury of being a musician. Aug 3, 2009 - Manuscripts finished for LA orchestral show Richard Egizi is a composer and orchestrator here in Los Angeles. I completed the music engraving and music preparation of his piece "Portraits of Rochelle" today, which will be played in about one month by the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra. July 27, 2009 - Recording in Prague The recording sessions were today for Cuestion de Principios. I was the orchestrator for composer Ruy Folguera. Composed in Argentina, orchestrated in Los Angeles, and recorded in Prague, it is a truly international film. June 23, 2009 - Recording We were recording Matt Overby on drums for Johanne Borum's second album yesterday and today. I never get tired of recording sessions! June 20, 2009 - Long After Midnight complete Today was a private screening of Robert Rollins' recently completed film "Long After Midnight", for which I was the film composer. June 12, 2009 - Funk Parlor screening Gwen O'Donnell's film The Funk Parlor played today at the Breckenridge Festival of Film in Colorado. I was an additional music composer for the film.

RecordingWe had voice over recording sessions today at my studio in Los Angeles for Robert Rollins' film "Lanterns for the Dead". June 2-5, 2009 - SIFF The Seattle International Film Festival is one of the best and it has more movies than any other in the US. I spent the week there soaking it all in. May 5, 2009 - Recording in french!! I just completed recordings of a short narrated book called "Dieu existe-t-il?" It was my first time narrating anything in french, and I'm told it will be sold in Africa somewhere. Fun! Apr 11, 2009 - Tour in France I just played a show in a beautiful city called Chartres in France and made some new lifelong friends. The band is going home but I will hang around another couple of weeks. Apr 4, 2009 - Writing, writing, writing... As always, I'm building my music library and refining my skills as a film composer. This week's agenda: religious drama, percussive orchestral action music, and cowboys. =-) Mar 29, 2009 - Penance screening Jake Kennedy had a screening of his horror film Penance today in a theatre at the LA Film School . I composed additional music for a murder and abduction scene. Believe it or not, it was possibly the least horrible scene in the film. Jake doesn't mess around. Mar 24, 2009 - Book of manuscripts finished I was the music engraver of a book of piano arrangements by Bonne Weiss. We completed the music preparation today, and it looks fantastic. Mar 6, 2009 - Love N' Dancing screening I made it to the theatres to see Love N' Dancing, a film I orchestrated for composer David Iscove, on the very last day of its theatrical run. Feb 24, 2009 - Recording for L'Imbroglio I was the orchestrator and music copyist for Ruy Folguera on a film called L'imbroglio nel Lenzuolo. We recorded the orchestra at Igloo Music here in Los Angeles over the last two days and it's going to sound great. Feb 22, 2009 - Hip hop orchestra Miguel Atwood-Ferguson's orchestral hip hop concert was tonight. I was the music copyist for the 2 hour show and it was a big success. It's a rare treat to hear an orchestra truly vibe. Only in LA! Jan 28 - Feb 2, 2009 - South America tour I just returned from a tour with Christafari where I was playing keyboards in Guyana, Trinidad, Brazil, and other beautiful tropical places. Perfect for winter!

RecordingI spent the last two weeks laying down tracks for Johanne Borum's new album. There is a long road of arranging and producing ahead, but it's a great start. |
