December 7, 2010 - Composing for Hit The Lights
I am just beginning to write a new film score for a film by director David Helman entitled "Hit The Lights" about a future earth so polluted that nobody has seen stars in 2 generations.
November 8, 2010 - Stewart Copeland and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra
Stewart Copeland's score for D'Drum and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is now finished. I helped him prepare the 514 pages of manuscript over the last few months, acting as score editor and music engraver, and today it was sent to publisher G. Schirmer for printing.
November 5, 2010 - On the set of Magic Hourglass
I was on set today with director Robert Rollins for our next project "The Magic Hourglass", a fantasy/adventure film. I will start composing the film score in early 2011.

October 25, 2010 - Studio photos
A new set of studio photos. I love my work space! Photos by Obie Obien.
My wonderful work space and built-in equipment racks. My space makes the grand piano look small. My butler is named Mr. Winston, and he really is small. The piano is from 1906. The tube-powered metronome is from 1964. I'll tell you my age, but you have to guess first.
My favorite corner of the studio. The vintage corner. 1943 Hammond organ, early 70's Teac reel to reel, late 60's 8mm and 16mm projectors, and CDs. I'm a pencil and paper guy when the schedule allows it.
Handwritten or typeset, I love a beautiful score. I designed and built my custom workstation with pull-out keyboard tray. My coin collection from the US Mint is embedded into the desktop just for fun.

Over the last four days I hosted one continuous, epic recording session at my studio with artist Austin Bustad. I am producing his next album, which will be my third project with him, and we're now totally done tracking guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Overdubs will begin next week.

August 26, 2010 - San Fernando Valley Symphony
Composer Richard Egizi and I completed the music preparation of manuscripts for his orchestral piece "Le quattro fasi di sesso femminile", which will be played by the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra in late September. I have been Richard's music copyist on four projects now.
Aug 23, 2010 - Building more high-end microphone preamps
Ever the do-it-yourself creative type, I recently built more top notch microphone preamps for my studio. This is a matched stereo pair of Class A tube preamps. Depending on the gain settings they go from clean and warm to highly colored and a little gritty. They will be a useful addition to the studio, and because of the tubes they double as a little space heater too. These kits are from Scott Hampton at Hamptone.

Tracy Bonham August 15, 2010 - San Diego Children's Film Festival
The film "Every Other Week" (along with my music) had a very successful screening at the San Diego Children's Film Festival. I was present for the Q&A, and it was a unique chance for kids to talk to a film composer.

I have begun the sheet music engraving for Tracy Bonham's new album "Masts of Manhatta" that will be published by ZMX Music.
July 30, 2010 - Bugbaby score complete
The film score for Bugbaby is done! It's a wacky, crazy, Tim Burton style horror score. It's going to the dub stage in San Francisco tomorrow for the final mix.

It's tough to tell, but the piano and I were on a yacht. July 11, 2010 - Piano bar performance
This evening I gave a piano bar style performance, playing and singing on a boat in Newport for a wedding.
July 7, 2010 - Arabic music book
I just completed the music preparation of the examples for a book about arabic music by Bana Haffar. Our western music software doesn't like arabic microtonal music too much, so it was tricky! The book with my music engraving will probably be published in 2011.
June 18, 2010 - Imbrolio nel Lenzuolo released
I was the orchestrator and music copyist for film composer Ruy Folguera in this Italian film, and it was released in theatres today.
Stewart Copeland June 15, 2010 - Working with Copeland
I have begun working with Stewart Copeland, working towards a concert with the Dallas Symphony in February of next year. I am assisting him with the music preparation for his symphonic work, which is a mix of western orchestra and eastern gamelan orchestra.
June 5, 2010 - Robert Rollins company party
Robert Rollins Pictures had a party celebrating the launch of the campaign for "Lanterns for the Dead". I am slated to be the film composer, and will write the score some time next year.

June 2, 2010 - Tracking for Centrevol
The band Centrevol is releasing a new album September 29. Today I recorded all the piano parts for the album, and I'll be in the studio with them tomorrow just for the hang. 		Centrevol: Pete, Kai, John, and Nate Visit the Centrevol Myspace page
May 1, 2010 - Austin Bustad's album project
I am producing an album for Austin Bustad and we're almost finished. The mixes are turning out really well and it's been a pleasure to work on his music.
April 24, 2010 - Final dub of "The Ringing"
Robert Rollins and I just completed the final audio dub of his film "The Ringing". I was the film composer and sound designer for this film, and I did the audio mix as well. I am now transitioning immediately to scoring Rebecca Doppelt's film "BugBaby".
Mar 15, 2010 - Recording in Prague
Today we recorded a string orchestra in Prague playing my orchestratiosn and Ruy Folguera's arrangements for an album by Facundo Monty. I was also the music copyist.
Feb 26-29, 2010 - BugBaby shoot & CRASH!!
I will be the film composer for Rebecca Doppelt's next film BugBaby. I was on set today, which was fun. I crashed my motorcycle on the way home and was hospitalized with a serious concussion, which was not. I'm okay and the film is going to be great.

I am now the master arranger and head music engraver for the music publisher ZMX Music. ZMX makes money for songwriters, music publishers, and partner sites with downloadable, direct-to-fan sheet music sales.
Jan 30, 2010 - Construction finished!
After a few weeks of construction my recording studio is better insulated from outside noise and also better treated for sound on the inside. My new custom workstation is complete, my gear is mostly hidden away in the machine room, I'm freshly organized, and the studio is back in business!

The new year comes with the completion of a new project. Today I finished the final mixes for Johanne Borum's second album. The album was recorded and mixed here at my studio in Los Angeles and should be available in the next month or so. I was the arranger and producer on this project.
