ZMX signs Tegan & Sara

I have just finished transcribing and engraving a batch of 25 arrangements for Tegan & Sara, the most recent artists to join my publishing company ZMX Music. All of our ZMX sheet music is 100% artist-approved so the fans can know that they’re getting the most accurate sheet music anywhere. I’ll be working with the girls to get the arrangements perfect, and they will be available soon.

Mark Abel score completed

San Diego composer Mark Abel wrote a 70 minute portrait of California in seven acts for orchestra and soloists entitled The Dream Gallery. I’m his music copyist and have been assisting him with orchestration, and as of today the nearly 700 pages of sheet music are finished. I’m also his associate producer for the recordings, which are already underway.

Tell Tale Heart reviews

I did the score editing and music preparation for Stewart Copeland’s opera The Tell Tale Heart, which is now published by G. Schirmer and playing at the Royal Opera of London for the coming week. The first couple of reviews are out, and it’s being received very well.

A Murderously Good Evening from Opera Critic.com
“Copeland, founder and ex-drummer of The Police, provides a score true to himself, jazzy, swingy, with maybe a nod to Stravinsky at times, and with some distinctive writing for percussion. It’s good!”

Opera Shots from Mark Ronan’s Theatre Reviews
“It’s terrific — the music, the conception, the staging, everything works together to give a riveting and intense experience.”

ZMX signs Nada Surf

ZMX Music, a publisher for which I’m the head engraver and also a part owner, has signed the band Nada Surf. I am now transcribing and arranging their songs and creating sheet music for them. Nada Surf is a very successful American alternative rock band based in New York City and formed in the 1990s. They recently released their 7th studio album.

D’Drum and Dallas Symphony success

“The audience fairly exploded Saturday night in the most uproarious ovation I can remember at a Dallas Symphony Orchestra classical concert.” – Dallas Morning News

I did the music copyist, preparation, and engraving work for composer Stewart Copeland and publisher G. Schirmer. The piece is called Gamelan D’Drum and was commissioned specifically for the D’Drum percussion ensemble. The piece is a percussion experiment combining a traditional orchestra with a massive gamelan orchestra. Since gamelan isn’t typically written down, I got to invent a lot of music notation for it. Jaap van Zweden conducted the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
